Sustainability

All of the properties managed by Village Gate Homes are built on principles of sustainability, providing social, environmental and financial support to the university’s academic mission.

Our homes have been designed and constructed adhering to the UBC specific green building rating system – Residential Environmental Assessment Program (REAP). REAP provides a sustainability framework to ensure all UBC residential development responsibly addresses water conservation, energy-use reduction and reduce environmental impact on both the building site and the larger community.

Any surplus revenue generated through Village Gate Homes’ buildings benefit the UBC Endowment Funds that supports a wide range of programs and activities such as research and academic excellence across the University in perpetuity. By choosing to live on campus you are furthering the sustainability of the University’s academic mission.
